Niutao Boat Harbour — Metocean Deployment & Analysis
Royal Haskoning DHV / ADB | 2023–2024
On the remote, wave-dominated island of Niutao, Intercoastal led a two-month field campaign measuring water levels to inform the design of the ADB-funded boat harbour. The campaign established an atmospheric base station and two nearshore water level monitoring sites, deploying pressure sensors in one of the Pacific's most logistically challenging environments and drawing on trained local Tuvaluan staff.
Our subsequent data analysis provided the design-stage metocean basis for port works — demonstrating Intercoastal's capability to deliver quality field data from anywhere in the Pacific.
