Supporting Quality from Design Through Construction
Intercoastal is providing specialist materials engineering and Materials Supply Quality Assurance (MSQA) input to Component 2 of the Republic of the Marshall Islands Urban Resilience Project.
The role extends from detailed design and tender documentation through to construction supervision, with a strong focus on materials quality and compliance within Majuro’s remote atoll supply environment.
During the design phase, Intercoastal reviews and contributes to detailed design reports, drawings and specifications, helping ensure materials and MSQA considerations are incorporated before works move into construction.

Materials Quality from the Design Stage
Materials quality is considered throughout the design process rather than only once construction begins.
Intercoastal’s design-phase role includes review and input into the 30% detailed design, followed by the 100% detailed design including reports, drawings and specifications, with a specific materials engineering and MSQA focus.
Intercoastal also reviews and contributes to tender documentation from an MSQA perspective, carrying materials quality considerations through into procurement and delivery.

From Design Review to Construction Supervision
Intercoastal’s involvement continues into the construction phase through site visits undertaken under the direction of the Team Leader.
The construction supervision role includes monitoring compliance with the design and specification, measuring and tracking progress against the contractor’s program, monitoring health and safety standards and provisions for managing project risk, and reporting.
This provides continuity between the materials and quality requirements established through design and their implementation during construction.
Materials Assurance in a Remote Atoll Environment
Intercoastal’s MSQA input places a particular focus on materials quality through the design, procurement and construction process, supporting quality assurance as materials move through the supply chain and into the completed works.
